Al-Khazneh, the Treasury of Petra, Sandstone limited edition 1/10

from £400.00

The Treasury at Petra is so-called because of a lasting myth that the urn at the top of of the building was full of gold. It bears the pockmarks of musket bullets from the attempts of travellers over the centuries to crack it open. As the urn is solid stone, these attempts did not pay off…

Made most famous by the film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, where it was used as the entrance to the shrine of the holy grail.

This cast has been carefully modelled from the earliest elevations (1830) coupled with detailed study of the photogrammetry created by Raiz. Subsequently, all the frieze details and relief sculptures were hand-sculpted from greenstuff and geomfix.

With much subsequent experimentation, I have succeeded in rendering the piece in as close as possible to the red-orange-brown of the location. I am now offering these as a limited edition of 10 pieces. Please allow 1 week’s lead time as each piece is cast to order and hand finished.

This piece is 19 by 24 cm. Framed it is approximately 22 by 27cm. Framed or unframed, it is supplied wired up ready to hang.

Each piece in this series will increase in price by 10%. Framing will remain at £100.
